Coastal Cat Sanctuary

Our beloved sanctuary sits on more than 19 beautiful acres, and serves as a hidden haven for displaced cats along the coast of Baldwin County, AL.

Run by our nonprofit, Coastal Cats & Critters, Coastal Cat Sanctuary provides love, care, and a home to cats that government agencies have deemed to be a threat to endangered wildlife, or nuisance to the public.

200 Cats Currently in Our Care

Intake Notice

Our sanctuary, in partnership with Coastal Cats and Critters, is not a general rescue. We operate under a specific mission, and strict intake protocols. With hundreds of cats already under our care, it is important for the public to understand that we cannot take in every cat or kitten that needs somewhere to go. Our purpose is not to rehome pets or take in owner surrenders, which is why we are currently not open to the public, and why we don't advertise our location.

Our mission is to rescue feral, abandoned, and unadoptable cats along the Baldwin County coastline, who have been affected by urban growth, or are considered a threat to endangered beach mice and other at-risk wildlife.

Cat Garden
A Free-Roaming Haven for Our Cats

The main Cat Garden is a spacious, free-roaming area where our cats can explore and play. They enjoy two cozy barns, equipped with air conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter, ensuring year-round comfort. The garden is also filled with a variety of huts, hidey holes, toys, and climbing structures, providing endless opportunities for fun, relaxation, and adventure.

Acclimation Pens
Helping New Cats Adjust to Sanctuary Life

At Coastal Cat Sanctuary, we have six dedicated Acclimation Pens, designed to help new arrivals settle in. When cats first come to the sanctuary, they spend 4-6 weeks in these pens, allowing them to gradually adjust to their new surroundings. During this time, our caretakers closely monitor each cat, ensuring they feel safe and comfortable. Once a cat is ready, they are released into the cat garden to join the rest of the sanctuary’s residents.

FELV Pen
A Sanctuary for Our Feline Leukemia Cats

Our FELV Pen is a dedicated space for cats who have tested positive for Feline Leukemia (FeLV). Currently, seven cats call this special area home, where they will spend the rest of their lives in comfort and care. Though their lifespan may be shorter than that of a healthy cat, we ensure they have the best possible quality of life. The FELV Pen includes a climate-controlled barn, providing a safe and comfortable environment year-round.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization who does not receive government funding, we rely on the support of generous donors like you. Your donation helps ensure that every cat in our care receives the love, medical attention, and daily necessities they need to thrive.

All cats are given a thorough medical exam upon intake, including spaying/neutering (if needed).

Cats deemed unadoptable will be given a cage-free environment, and a lifetime of care at our sanctuary.

Cats considered adoptable will also be provided with a cage-free environment as we search for their fur-ever home.

We prioritize the health and well-being of our resident cats when considering intakes, so as not to outgrow our means, physically or financially. We never want to take in more than we can provide for.

We are committed to educating the public on the importance of spaying and neutering your pets. Click here to view some of our favorite educational resources, and help spread the word!

We offer assistance with spaying, neutering, and TNVR (trap neuter vaccinate return) on a case-by-case basis. Contact us for more information.
