2025 1st Quarter Newsletter
As we step into a new quarter, we are reminded of the incredible support that makes our work possible. Thanks to your generosity, Coastal Cat Sanctuary continues to be a haven for feral cats, abandoned and at-risk cats, providing safety, medical care, and love to those in need. Your commitment fuels our mission, and we are excited to share the milestones we have achieved together.
First Quarter 2025 Highlights
Though we were officially closed to intakes, some situations simply couldn’t be ignored. In just the first three months of the year, we took in 25 cats who desperately needed our help—proving once again that our mission never stops.
Each intake comes with a $400 donation per cat, per year, for the life of the cat. This fee helps cover veterinary care, vaccinations, spay/neuter, food, and daily care. With every rescue, these costs add up quickly, making donations and sponsorships more critical than ever. Your support allows us to continue saying "yes" to cats in need—thank you for making this lifesaving work possible

ROCKYS JOURNEY: FROM ABANDONMENT TO SANCTUARY LIFE
Rocky’s story began in a trailer park, where he was abandoned and left to survive on his own. By the time we rescued him, he was covered in mats, dirty, and a heartbreaking sight. It was clear he had been neglected for far too long. But despite his rough past, Rocky never lost his gentle spirit.
His once-tangled coat is now soft and clean, and his sweet personality has truly blossomed. With his slightly cross-eyed gaze and curious nature, he has embraced sanctuary life, finding comfort in the routine and safety we provide. He loves to follow us all around the yard, always watching, always near—almost like a little shadow with a wagging tail. He may not bark, but he certainly acts like one of the dogs, greeting volunteer and staying close as they go about their day.
We are so excited to tell everyone that Rocky was adopted and is thriving in his new home! HAPPY TAILS Rocky!
Mardi Gras Magic with a Purpose!
Did you know that the Humane Society of Louisiana has a Mardi Gras Horse Program? Every year, parade horses are bought—some even rescued from kill pens—only to be discarded back into those same dangerous situations once the celebrations end. Since 2017, the Humane Society has worked with a New Orleans stable to ensure these horses find forever homes instead of facing an uncertain fate. Thanks to their efforts, over 100 horses have been saved!
At Coastal Cats & Critters, we believe in helping all animals in need—not just cats! That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce Buttercup and Olaf, our two rescued Mardi Gras horses! These beautiful souls now have a second chance at life, and we can’t wait to share their journey with you.
Sponsor a Cat – Make a Difference!
At Coastal Cats & Critters, some of our residents need extra time, care, and love before they can find their forever homes—or they may stay with us for life. By sponsoring a cat, you help provide food, medical care, and a safe place for them to thrive. Your sponsorship makes a direct impact on a cat’s well-being and ensures they receive the love and care they deserve.
🐾 Meet Big Hoss – A Gentle Giant in Need of a Sponsor!
Big Hoss showed up in a trailer park in Foley, Alabama, where it was unclear if he had been dumped or left behind when his family moved. When he was trapped and neutered, we discovered he was FELV-positive—meaning returning him to his colony would have been a death sentence. Instead, Coastal Cats Sanctuary became his forever home.
Now, Big Hoss lives happily in our Special Kneads FELV pen, soaking up the sun, playing with his feline friends, and enjoying a life full of love and safety. He may never be adopted, but with your sponsorship, he will always be cared for.
🐱 Sponsoring Big Hoss means:
✔️ Covering his food, medical care, and daily needs
✔️ Providing a safe, loving space where he can thrive
✔️ Getting updates on his journey and knowing you’ve made a difference

A Quarter Full of New Beginnings!
This year, thanks to our partnership with the Stray Love Foundation, 9 cats and kittens have already found loving families in Q1! Each adoption is a victory—bringing love, joy, and second chances to both pets and their people.

Help Us Reach Our Goal—Buy a Brick!
In 2024, we sold 52 bricks as part of our "Buy a Brick" initiative, helping us build a strong foundation—both literally and symbolically—for Coastal Cats Sanctuary. This year, our goal is to reach 100 bricks, but we need your help!
So far in Q1, we’ve sold just 5 bricks, and we’re calling on our amazing supporters to help us pick up the pace. Each brick purchased creates a lasting legacy for our sanctuary, ensuring a safe and loving home for cats in need.
Senior and Kitten Facility Update
Construction is well underway on our much-anticipated Senior and Kitten Center, a space designed to provide comfort, care, and safety for our most vulnerable residents. With the foundation set and the structure taking shape, we are closer than ever to making this dream a reality. This facility will be a lifeline for senior cats needing a peaceful place to live out their golden years and for kittens preparing for adoption.
While progress is exciting, we still need your support to finish and furnish the space! Donations will help provide beds, cat trees, and essential supplies, ensuring a warm and welcoming environment. We also invite, builders, crafters and volunteers to lend a hand in creating enrichment items. If you're interested in getting involved, please reach out at coastalcatsandcritters@gmail.com or visit www.coastalcatsandcritters.com. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference! 🐾
